The Heart Behind Ju'stice
Julian's Justice, now known as Ju'stice, was created by the parents of Julian Keel, a vibrant young man taken too soon. Two days before his 17th birthday, Julian was attending a graduation event with friends when gunshots rang out. An innocent bystander, Julian was tragically killed. Out of their profound grief, his family founded Ju'stice to offer comprehensive grief support services for families of murdered children. Ju'stice also advocates for our youth, pushing for programs that keep kids off the streets, provide mentorship, and work tirelessly toward ending
Over the last two years, gun violence has continued to have a devastating impact on teenagers across the U.S., including in South Carolina and the city of Columbia. Nationally, firearm violence remains the leading cause of death among teens. In 2022 alone, more than 2,500 children and teens were killed by firearms, which equates to an average of about seven deaths per day. This data reflects a consistent rise in gun violence impacting youth, with Black teenagers and young adults disproportionately affected (Hopkins Public Health) In South Carolina, gun violence has also hit young people hard. On average, 69 children and teens die from guns annually, with 56% of these deaths being homicides. The state ranks high in gun deaths, exacerbated by its lenient firearm laws (Gun Violence Archive). In Columbia, South Carolina, tragic incidents involving teenagers have drawn significant attention. In recent cases, three teenagers were shot and killed over disputes, showing the urgency of addressing gun violence in the local community (Hopkins Public Health).

Ju'Stice is dedicated to developing programs that support youth in communities nationwide. With South Carolina as our home base, this is where our journey begins. We plan to offer sports camps and create specialized curricula designed to help teenagers explore and prepare for careers in various industries.
